headspace Alice Springs provides FREE and CONFIDENTIAL services to young people 12-25 years old, for mental health, alcohol and other drugs counselling and a Doctors clinic for physical and sexual health.
headspace values the opinions of young people by seeking feedback from the Youth Reference Group on how we do things to make sure we are aware of what issues are happening locally for young people in Alice Springs. If you want to be a part of YRG call us for an info pack!

headspace Alice Springs is operated by Central Australian Aboriginal Congress. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Northern Territory (Health Network NT).
Services could include: provision of contraception and advice, testing, support, treatment and management of sexually transmissible infections(STI) HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis vaccination for Hepatitis and HPV, pregnancy testing and referral.
GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.
A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities.
____ If you don’t have a Medicare card our administration staff can help point you in the right direction.
____ Alternatively you can go online to sign yourself up if you are eligible.
____ If you are on your parent’s/legal guardian’s Medicare card and you are 15 years or older you can apply for your own Medicare card. While you may want to discuss this with your parents/legal guardian it is ultimately something you can choose to do without their consent.
_____If you are not eligible for a Medicare card, headspace Alice Springs can assist to see what options are available to you. This may include referrals to other services or support being provided
Options for while you are waiting to see someone
At headspace Alice Springs we endeavour to allocate you to a clinician as soon as possible. Most people wait one to two weeks at most but at times it can take a little bit longer. If you are on the waitlist we will contact you via phone on a weekly basis to see how you are going.

If you feel at risk of hurting yourself, please call 000 or present to the Alice Springs Emergency Department
