COVID-19 Centre Update

31 Mar 2020

headspace is here to support the mental health of young people and we understand that COVID-19 is potentially creating feelings of uncertainty within the community.

headspace Maitland needs to suspend most face to face appointments during the current COVID 19 breakout in NSW. We have been keeping an eye on government advice and we have made the decision with everyone's health in mind. We are offering phone and video sessions in place of our normal sessions and would like you to engage for support by one of these methods. We've still got your back!

We will be in contact with everyone who has appointments booked and let you know how we can support you, you can also call us on 4931 1000 between regular hours Monday to Friday 9am - 4:30pm.

To reduce risk and ensure safety of the centre and the community, headspace Maitland is asking that anyone who has been to current COVID hotspots to not visit the centre and stay at home until July 9th, per government guidelines. The following areas have been identified and if you have visited any of these areas on June 21st of afterwards you must stay at home.

  1. Greater Sydney
  2. Central Coast & Blue Mountains
  3. Wollongong & Illawarra

If you have been to any of these areas you must stay at home, only leaving for essential needs until July 9th. If you had an appointment booked during this time and need to reschedule or book a phone or video session please contact our centre as soon as possible.

We are committed to supporting young people during this time and can offer some of our appointments by phone or Zoom. Please contact us to discuss if you would like to do this in place of coming into the centre.

We encourage young people, family and friends, and staff to also seek advice from a local community general practice or from government advice lines services such as healthdirect/coronavirus.

We will continue to closely monitor the rapidly changing landscape in relation to COVID-19, and will keep the community informed about any changes in capacity. Our priorities remain our ability to maintain access to services for young people and family and friends, and also the wellbeing of our staff and the local community. We will be working to maintain service continuity and access throughout this time.

If you are experiencing feelings of stress related to COVID-19, headspace has developed information which might be helpful to manage any changes to daily life as a result of containment measures.

Please visit the headspace website for more information:

We will continue to work through this together and continue to provide support through all avenues available to us.
