headspace Launceston offers free support for young people aged 12 to 25, their families and friends.

Our services are free. To refer, give us a call, drop, in or complete our self-referral form online. Don't forget to save or phone number 6335 3100 and an Access Worker will call you in 2-3 business days.

headspace Launceston is operated by Cornerstone Youth Services. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Tasmania (Primary Health Tasmania).
Nutrition screening, dietary assessment and education about food and lifestyle, also support around healthy eating strategies.
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities.
Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.
If you live near our headspace centre in a rural area but cannot travel in to see us, you can see our mental health workers online.
GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.
A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.

Q. Do I need consent to refer a young person to headspace Launceston?
A. Yes, we are not able to make contact with a young person if they have not agreed to the referral.
Q. My young person does not want to come into the Centre, can I still make contact?
A. Yes, give us a call on 63353100 and let our reception team know that you have a young person you are worried about and would like to have a chat. Leave your contact details and one of our Access Team Clinicians will call back. (for Non Crises contact)
Q. Can I use headspace online services if I am not a young person?
A. Yes, Family and Friends - or anyone supporting a young person can access online services by creating a headspace Account
Q. Does headspace Launceston facilitate family sessions?
A. Yes we do, we can facilitate Single Session Family Consults - which are one off sessions to assist families and friends to support their young person. If families need family therapy or mediation we would recommend Relationships Australia or Catholic Care Tasmania.

The Youth Reference Group (YRG) is made up of young people passionate about mental health and well-being.
The YRG aims to:
- provide you with the opportunity to have input into the strategic direction of headspace services, and local youth services
- allow a way for the voice of young people to be heard and acted upon

- support you to lead projects locally

There is paid parking across the road in Wellington Street and nearby at 36-42 Bathurst Street, opposite Launceston College.

What happens Next?
Once the form is received, we will phone you within 2 working days. Make sure you have our phone number in your contacts.
The person calling you will be a mental health professional from our Access team and will have a short chat about your referral, the services we offer and organise your first appointment.
If you would like a family member or a friend to help with this call - let us know on the referral form. The first appointment is a chance to ask more questions and confirm what type of support you need. You are welcome to bring in a support person - family or friend.
