On location for the second year at Jindabyne Sports and Recreation Centre, the  young people form Bega, Cooma, Goulburn, Yass, Nowra, Liverpool, Tuggeranong, Canberra and Wollongong gathered to collaborate on innovative ways young people can advocate in their communities for better mental health and wellbeing.

The young people attended sessions on Advocacy, Work Readiness and participated in team building games, culminating in a regional planning session on the final day, after evenings of Bon fires and Trivia Nights. The young people forged strong connections across our broad region and came away with a deeper understanding of shared challenges and the varying needs of different communities. They returned home inspired to bring their best to their headspace centres as part of their participation in advocacy for better youth mental health services.

Local YRG members Ben, Grace and Juli were able to attend camp from headspace Goulburn & headspace Yass and have had a blast of a time. Building connections with others from around the Southern NSW & ACT headspace centres, challenging their own skills and building on their training the workshops provided related to community engagement, team building, problem solving and a little bit of fun with the Amazing Race Challenge. What a great time away and oppertunity to build on personal skills and development that can be used in the future - at school, work, home life, Everywhere!

Joining the YRG is a great oppertunity to build skills and give back to your local community. Camp is an exciting new addition to the many experiences you can have while being a Youth Reference Group Member here at headspace Goulburn & headspace Yass

Check out our YRG page on the website for more information about joining the Youth Reference Group for headspace Goulburn.
